Doug Ellingford’s late night underground jazz hang out Brighton blue note in hove actually will be having a night of beautiful jazz both original compositions and standards courtesy of great local musician, composer and jazz educator Simon D’souza. Simon kicked off the opening night of the late night jazz sessions some months back in early February. It was a sumptuous night of delicious music with a packed house with the music going on until the wee small hours. Since that night we have been treated each Friday to an ever revolving line up of great local musicians such as Paul Greenwood, Ian Price, Richard Beesley, Rob Heasman Elekrik band, Rob Leake, Martijn Van Galen, Bjorn Dahlberg, Sara Oschlag, jack kendon and international artist such as Cathy Segal Garcia and Zee Gachette. Simon teaches at Chichester college on the jazz course helping nurture the up and coming next generation of jazz musicians and some will be sitting in on some tunes in the gig.
As usual we’ll kicking off at 11pm with support from Brighton jazz school bands from 8pm, free entry all night! It,s under the greenhouse effect 63 church rd, hove. We got Loz Thomas on drums, Nigel Thomas on bass and myself on guitar…
