He performs in his own project – “The Paul Richards Trio” concentrating on Brazilian & South American music. The trio went down a storm last year and were in high demand at international Jazz Festivals such as Love Supreme and Rye International Jazz Festival. Jazzwise UK picked up on the vibe on the Bandstand stage at Love Supreme Festival and described Paul Richards as –
“A gem on the stage. Paul Richards beautifully updated the Laurindo Almeida nylon-string Brazilian style”
As soon as the trio started, the samba rhythms drifted around the festival dragging people into the area, creating a huge audience for the trio’s performance.
Paul also hosts the famous Brighton Jazz night – Brunswick Jazz Jam, with a wealth of talented musicians performing for the packed out venue. Both local and international artists such as Soweto Kinch, Joe Lee Wilson, Emmy award winning composer John Altman as Zstar to name a few.
