Los Chacareros guitar duo will be playing a mix of Latin jazz, Argentinean folk and Spanish Rhumba Gypsy Kings Style at Caps, Western Rd, Brighton, Sussex this eve from 9.30pm till 12.30pm! The guitar duo is also available to hire for weddings, corporate events, functions, parties throughout Brighton & Hove, Sussex, London, Kent, Surrey, Hampshire, Herfordshire, Berkshire.
The house band for the B Jazz Jam tomorrow will be Brighton based Terry Pack on bass and Malcolm Mortimer on drums with myself on guitar. We will be starting with a short jazz trio set and will then be inviting jazz musicians to come up and join in with the action! There is a house piano set up to the PA along with vocal mics and use of double bass, guitar and drums.

I am currently updating my vast wedding guitar repertoire. Pieces currently in progress are a selection of Tangos arranged by the great Argentinean Tango and classical guitarist Cacho Tirao. Also I am exploring the work of Brazilian and classical guitarist Marco Pereira. I enjoy these tunes so much because of the jazz harmony found within which means as well as playing the piece as written like a classical guitar performance, you can also improvise over the form as you would do over a jazz standard and therefore take the piece some place else and put your own musical voice into it. This is a concept I have been teaching many of my guitar students lately with lessons covering solo guitar work and improvising in a chord melody style. I am available for events, corporate functions, parties and weddings all through the UK but especially in Sussex, London, Surrey, Kent, Hertfordshire, Berkshire, Hampshire.
Due to many of my former guitar students successfully entering music courses at University after my guitar tuition, I can now teach more guitar lessons in Brighton & Hove. I have met many promising young guitarists at the Brunswick jazz jam who are local or staying Brighton whilst studying at Brighton institute of modern music. Many of my jazz guitar students have gone onto University to study jazz and it’s great seeing the improvement when they return for holidays. I have taught many jazz guitarists for preparation for auditions on Jazz courses in London and also for preparation for the final performance at Chichester college on the Jazz course. Many of my guitar students now have the ability and confidence to go out and play professionally themselves in jazz duos, trios and full on jazz bands and I have seen some brilliant performances in Brighton and Hove lately. Other students, going down the more classical guitar route have passed their graded exams.
Jazz Guitar lessons cover many aspects from jazz theory, harmony, improvisation, chord/melody playing, single line improvisation, analysing complex jazz progressions and all time jazz standards. I also encourage my students to play at the jazz jam session I run at the Brunswick, Hove to get used to playing as part of a jazz band and in public. As well as classical and jazz I also teach guitar styles in rock, blues, spanish, flamenco, fusion.
With the classical guitar lessons I teach technique, theory and how to memorize classical guitar pieces which will stand you in good stead if you are looking to play guitar professionally at weddings, events and functions.
